Increasing complexity for running a stake pool is a cause for concern wrt decentralization.

Agreed. I do support compliance with law/regulation. I fail to see how the resulting granularity would not fragment the SPO landscape to a degree akin to a centralized/permissioned protocol. Following CH video drawing the use-case landscape (NPO, ISPO, donors, regulated products) how on earth could the protocol cater for all these requirements at a global scale as in: Italian-ISPO, Canadian-NPO,... without creating pretty tiny specialised groups of SPOs for those validations? What am I missing?

Pools shutting down, because of their inability to comply with regulations is a much bigger concern wrt. decentralization

Contingent staking is not mandatory so there is no added complexity for SPOs (unless they want it).
